About this ribbon

Act of 2 July 1926 section 12 expressly reaches service since 6 April 1917, with restricted eligibility before 11 November 1918.

Catalog associations: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard. Current award reference. Branch associations are browsing guidance; other service awards may also appear in a veteran’s record.

Service years and award dates

Years help surface possibilities. A date overlap does not show that someone earned an award. Some date rules describe completion, specific operations or retroactive eligibility, rather than a universal service window.

Listed service periods and date rules
Dates	What the source says
Apr 6, 1917 – Nov 10, 1918	Original statute retroactivity: pre-11 November 1918 acts restricted to specified prior recommendations or flying-school instructor/student heroism. Source ↗
Nov 11, 1918 – End not specified	Aerial heroism or extraordinary achievement; statutory and service criteria apply. Source ↗

Date coverage is not certified complete. The finder keeps this entry available when listed dates do not overlap.

Research notes and remaining questions

Modern service implementation and special earlier recommendations still control individual entitlement.
