About this ribbon

Manual internally conflicts: paragraph 5.A.6.b says established 15 October 1976, while enclosure (1) says authorized by Commandant 20 May 1976. Both are retained as source findings, with established_date null. Geographic, seasonal, and day-count rules are eligibility conditions, not a single service-era boundary.

Catalog associations: Coast Guard. Current award reference. Branch associations are browsing guidance; other service awards may also appear in a veteran’s record.

Service years and award dates

Years help surface possibilities. A date overlap does not show that someone earned an award. Some date rules describe completion, specific operations or retroactive eligibility, rather than a universal service window.

Service-date coverage for this ribbon is still being confirmed. It remains available in the finder when you enter service years.

Date coverage is not certified complete. The finder keeps this entry available when listed dates do not overlap.

Research notes and remaining questions

Official manual gives two 1976 authorization/establishment dates. The exact relationship between these dates was not resolved.
Legacy official ribbon-chart URL was identified, but the endpoint returned HTTP 403. No individually verified official ribbon image URL is supplied.
