AR 600-8-22 paragraph 3-9 verifies establishment on 12 July 1862. No universal qualifying-service start was inferred from that date. The Medal of Honor service ribbon is explicitly described in paragraph 6-2.
Service years and award dates
Years help surface possibilities. A date overlap does not show that someone earned an award. Some date rules describe completion, specific operations or retroactive eligibility, rather than a universal service window.

Award versions sharing this ribbon
These awards share a base ribbon design. Their eligibility, frames and devices can differ; the preview does not choose a version or establish an award.
Medal of Honor (Army)
AR 600-8-22 paragraph 3-9 verifies establishment on 12 July 1862. No universal qualifying-service start was inferred from that date. The Medal of Honor service ribbon is explicitly described in paragraph 6-2.
Medal of Honor (Air Force design)
DAF-specific medal authorized 6 July 1960; Air Force design used for approvals on or after 1 November 1965. Earlier approvals retained the original design. Establishment and design-change dates are not general qualifying-service dates.
Medal of Honor (Navy)
Statutory establishment 21 December 1861 differs from retroactive qualifying date 12 April 1861. Tiffany Cross / Medal of Honor (1917–18) is a historical medal design, not a separate base service-ribbon design.
