About this ribbon

Establishment conflict: current DAFMAN says 7 April 1964; AFPC says ribbon established 1 April 1964 and medal added 1 May 1973. No single establishment date chosen. Earliest first-award service credit can precede 1965 because four preceding years are counted; the stored date is explicitly the award/completion threshold.

Catalog associations: Air Force. Current award reference. Branch associations are browsing guidance; other service awards may also appear in a veteran’s record.

Service years and award dates

Years help surface possibilities. A date overlap does not show that someone earned an award. Some date rules describe completion, specific operations or retroactive eligibility, rather than a universal service window.

Listed service periods and date rules
Dates	What the source says
Apr 1, 1965 – Jun 30, 1975	Awards made on or after 1 April 1965 based on four immediately preceding continuous years. This is a completion/award boundary; earlier service can be credited. Source ↗
Jul 1, 1975 – End not specified	Awards made on or after 1 July 1975 require three continuous years of qualifying enlisted Air National Guard/Air Force Reserve service. Source ↗

Date coverage is not certified complete. The finder keeps this entry available when listed dates do not overlap.

Research notes and remaining questions
