About this ribbon

Current medal authorized June 1963. Terminated 6 February 2006 and reinstated 22 November 2008 retroactive to 6 February 2006, so there is no final eligibility gap. This qualifying date is a completion/termination boundary rather than a prohibition on prior service credit.

Catalog associations: Air Force. Current award reference. Branch associations are browsing guidance; other service awards may also appear in a veteran’s record.

Service years and award dates

Years help surface possibilities. A date overlap does not show that someone earned an award. Some date rules describe completion, specific operations or retroactive eligibility, rather than a universal service window.
